Laser Hair Reduction For Gender Affirmation

For members of the transgender community, we offer laser hair reduction for the face and genital areas to aid in achieving a desired appearance.

The process is covered only by CT Medicaid, but we offer specialized pricing plans for those without Medicaid. Medicaid covers laser hair removal of the face and genital area.

What Are The Benefits Of Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal allows for the permanent hair reduction anywhere on the face and body, meaning you can say goodbye to tweezing, waxing, and shaving. As a result, it is a worthwhile investment in the long run, preventing the inconveniences associated with these repetitive methods of hair removal. No more razor bumps, no more discomfort, and no more tedious and time-consuming tweezing. While you can perform laser hair removal on any area of the body, Medicaid only covers laser hair removal for only the face and genital areas. See the requirements set by the state of CT here.

Furthermore, our Clarity II™ laser uses cooling technology to make the treatment more comfortable than less advanced models. Now, laser hair removal can be performed with minimal discomfort.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal is the 3rd most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedure in the US, and for good reason! The Clarity II™ emits highly focused light, known as a laser. Pigments in the hair follicle absorb the light, heating up the follicle and disabling it. By disabling the hair follicle, the laser inhibits hair growth. The magic lies in the selectivity of the laser; it attacks the pigmentation in the hair and not the surrounding skin; however, red, light blonde, or gray hair do not absorb the laser well, meaning hair removal for these hair colors is not effective. Relatedly, older lasers utilized for hair removal were not safe for darker skin tones due to the skin’s absorption of the light. The Clarity II™ alleviates this issue because it has two wavelengths: a higher energy laser for lighter skin tones, and a lower energy one for darker skin tones. As a result, laser hair removal is now suitable for all skin colors. We are proud to be able to include more members of the transgender community.

Typically, people experience about a 90% reduction in hair in the treated areas. A series of treatments is necessary, and maintenance treatments may be required. Looking for laser hair removal for general cosmetic purposes?
